Position Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
- Responsible for providing professional respiratory care services to patients based on scope of practice as ordered by physician; where services may include giving breathing treatments, postural drainage, aerosol treatments, full respiratory assessment, ventilator management, home diagnostics and lab collection.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Graduate of an approved/accredited school of respiratory care.
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or equivalent experience.
- Licensure: Must have valid NE & IA RT License/CRT Registry.
- Must have valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record and ability to provide own transportation.
- Experience: Minimum experience to new graduate.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelors Degree
- RRT National Registry License
- One year respiratory therapy experience preferably pediatric home health care or acute care.
SKILLS:
- Ability to communicate successfully both orally and in writing including effective listening skills. Knowledge of clinical documentation protocols, home health care regulations and standards. Current clinical knowledge regarding specific treatment modalities, therapeutic applications, OSHA guidelines and drug therapy parameters. Ability to plan and organize work schedule to include effectively setting priorities where necessary. Must exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively with others. Must exhibit flexibility in managing the multifaceted requirements of position, and ability to function independently in home setting.
