Job Summary

**Incumbent must work three days in office each weekfrom one of the following AgCountry offices: Ada, Alexandria, Crookston, Detroit Lakes, Elbow Lake, Fergus Falls, Fosston, Graceville, Hallock, Morris, Thief River Falls, Roseau or Warren in Minnesota.**

We are seeking a Tax Officer - Portfoliowho willprimarily focus on customer service and retention by quickly and effectively completing customer requests and building relationships with customers. Complete timely and technically accurate income tax returns and perform other related activities for a portfolio of all types of farm entities. Provide consistent high-quality service that is timely, thorough, and responsive to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Service and Operations
    • Complete timely and technically accurate income tax returns for farming operations and owners of farmland, while providing quality customer service and advice. Types of returns include, but are not limited to, individuals, partnerships, C Corporations, and S Corporations. Ensure customers comply with periodic tax payments, information reporting, and other tax authority requirements, when applicable.
    • Provide tax planning and other consulting to customers.
    • Act as the primary contact for tax-related service for the customer.
    • Manage own time to complete customer returns and planning by deadlines.
    • Remain current on tax rules and regulations.
    • Share expertise by delivering internal presentations and answering questions from other tax officers and teammates.
    • Invoice customers according to price minimums and percentage increases.
    • Follow department and association established processes.
    • Actively participate in presentations at industry events and customer meetings to promote tax expertise.
  • Sales
    • Represent the Associations at industry and agricultural events in the region.
    • Proactively provide referrals to other teammates, identifying opportunities for collaboration and cross-selling.
    • Promote and build reputation and image within community, region, and association
  • Projects, Initiatives, and Other Operational Work
    • Volunteer for and collaborate with the team on special projects and initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Cont.

Portfolio - Develop and maintain solid knowledge of applicable systems. Prepare tax returns and participate in tax planning meetings, while progressing in complexity of returns and oversight independence. Develops competence in order to perform job role independently, with direction on complex situations, and supports a growing number of customers. Follow department and association established processes. Achieved Farm Credit tax certification and continues to grow professionally by working toward the EA or CPA Certification. Coordinate with Tax team members for complex tax rules and to provide customer problem resolution. Participate in department projects and committees. As experience progresses, shares expertise by participating in internal presentations and answering questions from other tax officers and teammates. Provide referrals to other teammates, identifying opportunities for collaboration and cross-selling.

Travel Time

Percentage of time required to travel during the day - 25%

Percentage of time required to travel overnight - 5%

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree inAccounting, Tax, Finance or other related business field

Years of Experience

2 + years tax experience

Certification and Technical Requirements

  • Completion or progress in completing Farm Credit's tax certification
  • CPA or EA certification strongly encouraged
