POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer III will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and reliability and ensuring solid continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. This role will lead complex projects, analyze quality data, and implement effective quality control strategies. The Quality Engineer III will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify quality issues, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, implement, and manage quality assurance protocols and control plans.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing of products and materials to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Identify root causes of quality issues and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Lead multiple continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality, reducing waste, and increasing efficiency.
  • Utilize quality improvement methodologies to optimize processes.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure all quality processes comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of applicable quality activities, including audit reports, inspection records, and CAPA documentation.
  • Lead in internal and external audits as required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality considerations are integrated into product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide quality-related training and support to other departments to promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.
  • Assess and monitor the quality performance of suppliers and vendors.
  • Conduct supplier audits and work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement improvements.
  • Address customer complaints and feedback related to product quality.
  • Implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce the incidence of quality-related issues.
  • Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings, and completing assignments.
  • Ability to work and interact well with others.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • May provide functional management to other Quality Engineers or Technicians.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor degree in engineering or another related field is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, quality control, quality assurance, or other relative experience, if degreed. Minimum of 14 years of experience in engineering, quality control, quality assurance, or other relative experience, if non-degreed. A minimum of 2 years in an internal Quality Engineer II role.

Required Skills:

  • Intermediate PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of applied statistics.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and/or specifications.
  • Direct experience in manufacturing processes and methods of operation.
  • Knowledge of basic product design and material properties.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and statistical methods used in quality functions.
  • Ability to accurately measure using precision metrology tools.
  • Working knowledge of IATF, AS, or ISO quality management systems.
  • Subject matter expert of AIAG or ASQ industry standard quality toolsets.
  • Ability to accurately measure using precision metrology tools.

Preferred Skills

  • Skills to evaluate supplier/sub-contractor performance and coordinate improvement.
  • Proficiency with quality tools used for problem solving and quality improvement.
  • Ability to facilitate team improvements and lead quality initiatives.
  • Company product and application knowledge.
  • Applicable American Society of Quality (ASQ) certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.

SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to navigate the manufacturing floor to work with process operators and monitor process performance.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for using gauges and measuring instruments.
  • Travel (10 - 30%).
