Retail Pharmacist - Part-time

Position Highlights:

Working with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, retail pharmacists will prepare, dispense, and distribute medications, provide clinical monitoring and drug information in a manner which ensures optimal patient care, ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to dispensing and maintenance of records, provide direction to pharmacy technicians and interns and assist with the organization of daily activities. Part-time retail pharmacists will enjoy a combination of working primarily at Nebraska Medicine's retail locations (Durham Outpatient Pharmacy, Lauritzen Outpatient Pharmacy, Bellevue Medical Center Pharmacy and Village Pointe Pharmacy) and have the opportunity to work with the Centralized Services team at Nebraska Medicine's Central Fill Pharmacy. This position will have the expectation to work one night every other week at the DOC Pharmacy and one Saturday every 3rd week at the BMC Pharmacy and will self-schedule the remainder of their shifts.

Shift details:

  • Part Time & Benefits Eligible (0.5 FTE or 40 hours minimum in a 2-week pay period)

  • First Shift: Varied 8 and 10-hour shifts

  • Monday - Friday shifts at the DOC Pharmacy: 7am to 5:30pm, 8am to 6:30pm and 9:30am to 8pm

  • Monday - Friday shifts at the BMC/LOC/VP Pharmacies: 7:30am to 5:30pm

  • Monday - Friday shifts at the Central Fill Pharmacy: 7am to 3:30pm, 7:30am to 4pm, 8am to 4:30pm, 9am to 5:30pm, 9:30am to 6pm

  • One Saturday repeating every 3rd week at the BMC Pharmacy: 9am - 1pm

  • One holiday per year

  • Shifts are primarily self-scheduled with the opportunity to schedule above 0.5 FTE

Retail Pharmacist - Part-time Duties:

Working with the healthcare team, prepare, dispense, and distribute medication and provide clinical monitoring and drug information in a manner, which ensures optimal patient care. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining dispensing and maintenance of records. Provide direction and assist with organization of daily activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program OR possess a Bachelor or Master of pharmacy degree with 10 years of experience required.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Nebraska or jurisdiction in which pharmacy practice is conducted required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later) as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and patients required.
  • Demonstrate basic computer skills and use of typical office equipment required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Outpatient hospital pharmacy experience or retail pharmacy experience preferred.
  • American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited postgraduate year one residency preferred.
  • Experience with hospital EMR and pharmacy applications preferred.
  • Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS) certification as deemed appropriate and relevant to practice preferred.
