  Data Governance Analyst 

OPPD is seeking a Data Governance Analyst . The Data Governance Analyst will support the development, documentation and execution of business processes that adhere to policies and standards promoting governance through the data lifecycle. The position will work closely with cross enterprise stakeholders including compliance, audit, security, application delivery, and business partners to design new business process and data management capabilities and drive improvements, efficiencies and controls around data management. This will advance the objectives of the enterprise data governance program, promote data governance policies and standards.

Responsibilities /Accountabilities

  • Participate in business outreach and understand business process and pain points around critical data.
  • Perform proactive data profiling, technical data analysis, and review profiling results with the business to identify data quality rules for critical data.
  • Participates in efforts to minimize duplication of data and works with analytics and information technology professionals to implement data quality best practices.
  • Work with internal DG team to support requirements for data quality and reporting and analytics platform development for data governance initiatives.
  • Assists with data monitoring and provides guidance on improving consistency of data management practices.
  • Maintain central documentation around profiling, tool training and user guides.
  • Supports the roll out of employee-based training regarding compliance with data governance policies and relevant information management laws and guidance.
  • Ensures data quality and data accuracy across all group delivery initiatives.
  • Partners with data architects and business SMEs to expand and maintain the Enterprise Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, Data Lineage, and Data Catalog.
  • Participates in efforts to minimize duplication of data and works with analytics and information technology professionals to implement data quality best practices.
  • Define and measure Key Performance Indicator's for DG progress and the success of the program.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Required:

Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in SQL query, Oracle and SQL Server databases.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or other relevant discipline.

Demonstrate a strong understanding data quality, data analysis and metadata management topics

Demonstrate a working knowledge of various data quality, governance and reporting & analytics platforms.

Knowledge of industry leading data quality, and data governance.

Knowledge of data related regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.

Proactive mindset with focus on providing value with thorough data analysis.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Ability to interface effectively and professionally with internal and cross functional teams.

Ability to multi-task several projects at once. Flexible and adaptable to change.

Self-motivated and excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Desired:

            2 years of experience in reporting and analytics tools Cognos and/or Tableau.
